Hello New Friend!
I am honored that you took a few minutes out of your day to come visit me here at SincerelyJacqueline.com!
I have birthed tiny humans, spoken the sacred vows of marriage, and will always be eternally grateful for my family. 🙂
Since I was really young, for whatever reason I always wanted to start my own business. I used to sell on eBay with my parents, back when home computers started to become popular back in the mid 90’s. I actually was the person that taught my parents how to use a computer and the internet back then, when I was in elementary school. Weird I know, but I have always had a knack for technology and electronics.
I made a good side hustle back then on eBay for an elementary school student. I collected things from my entire family (immediate and extended) that they did not want, and then I eventually bought items on eBay to resell back on eBay. I made a decent amount of money. It was pretty amazing when I was able to buy myself a personal CD player from my earnings. I saved most of the money though, thanks to those good talks I had with my grandma. Even though I was beaming with pride over the feeling of accomplishment, what I didn’t know was that this side hustle adventure would lead me to be a better, stronger and smarter person.
While selling on eBay as a kid, I was already making plans beyond eBay. I had my dad hang up a giant dry erase board to my bedroom wall, so I could keep track of everything. I want to admit, I have pretty cool parents. They helped me a lot as a kid with my money making adventures. Now that I was thinking outside of eBay, I was also dreaming of my future goals and taking tiny steps to making them a reality. I wanted to start my own business, get it to run smoothly, and then to just oversee operations. So I was not surprised when these dreams followed me when I went to college.
While I was able to start my own businesses, (outside of this blog) I am still very hands on in my businesses, but I am not at the point where I can just “oversee” things by any means Lol. It’s never that easy. It is hard work to build any business, well it is if you want it to be successful anyways. I still enjoy the hard work and late hours, even through all of the obstacles and hurdles. The only problem is…that everything is so set in stone. You need to do X,Y, and Z and follow a bazillion regulations. If you have a product or service, there is more than likely someone out there that is seeking for that very thing. Making a business become profitable is not hard work, it’s just a lot of work.
Why do I Blog then, if I have 2 other successful businesses? Blogging is something that I enjoy doing. Even when I hit a road block blogging, I really enjoy helping people. I find it even more fascinating that a blog is a 24/7 help window. This blog is always open for someone to get the advice they need, at the time they need it. How cool is that? So cool! I like being able to put my own spin on the world and pour my creativity into this blog. If you haven’t started a blog, and just want to try it – there’s no better time than the present.
Blogging for me all started…as an avid Pinterest-er. I came across the world of blogging a few years back! It was like love at first sight. I was so shocked that you could create something that is so unique and create a network of knowledge that helps other people in their own life!
I feel so humbled, down to earth, and full of purpose, that I am able to help other people and animals. For a really long time, for some reason helping people always struck a cord close to my heart.
One of my favorite early memories as a kid was when I was looking at some discarded mail on the kitchen table and finding a flyer asking to donate money to a local charity. Years later when I was old enough to start organizing my own room – I found that same flyer inside an envelope. Inside was 13 cents. I had written a note on the envelope to save money to buy a stamp to mail it. I was just a small child at the time. I just wanted people to feel happy instead of sad.
Most people grow out of many things they did as a kid, but wanting to pay it forward has never left me. The year before last, I talked most of my extended family into not exchanging Christmas gifts, and instead to buy items to donate to an animal shelter that was desperately in need. (The shelter was more than an hour drive one way…my awesome brother and awesome sister in law collected and drove all the items out there.) I was so happy that this shelter did not have to worry about feeding the animals – at least for a little while.
It seems I may have already passed the giving gene on to my kids. They saw the sad puppies and kitties on the SPCA commercials…and have been finding things of their own to sell ever since.
I try to keep this thought in mind when they smear toothpaste all over the bathroom, or cannot tell me who drew on the wall because they “don’t know who did it”.
What continues to drive me to help people to this day…
There have been times where I felt like I was hitting rock bottom. More than once. Which was kind of odd to me because I used to have this naive thought that when you hit rock bottom it was like a once in a lifetime type of deal. Yeah, not so much. It turns out that hitting rock bottom is a lottery type of “win” that you can be the recipient of more than once!
I have been in places in my life where it just seems like negative dumb luck would strike, multiple times. I had to get smarter, better, faster, and stronger. Even in business anyone will face their hurdles. There will be times when even a larger expense/investment than the business can comfortably afford comes up out of nowhere.
I want to try to minimize the probability of hitting rock bottom for you. And if you are already at rock bottom, I’ll help you back up. Sometimes the best think you can have at rock bottom, is a friend that has already been there before, and knows the fastest way up and out.
When I was at rock bottom I thought to myself, even if I am at rock bottom I am going to put one foot down, and then the other foot, and stand myself upright – as FAST as I can. A lot of the time, even doing just that was super hard. But it made me more confident knowing that even when I was still at rock bottom – at least – I was standing, and not staying knocked down. Then the only thing left was for me to dig deep, find strength, power forward, and show this dumb luck of mine that I was coming back…Rocky Balboa style.
The reason I took the plunge and started this blog, is for you.
Yes, YOU the one that is reading these words right now!
I wanted to create a place that would be the “one shop stop” in the world, where people could read something funny and helpful to turn their day around.
This world has room to put a lot more happiness in it, even if it’s just one little blog post at a time.
